Private school admissions
A dedicated adviser from first conversation to final decision, for entry to the leading private and international schools of Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Hawaiʻi, the U.S. West Coast, New York and U.S. boarding schools.
What we do
Six services, delivered by one adviser who knows the child.
School strategy
Which schools, which entry point, which year. A realistic shortlist with reach, match and secure options, built on the child’s profile and the family’s horizon, including whether a move to Hawaiʻi or the United States is a later stage of the same plan.
Application management
Every form, document, deadline and portal. Reference requests briefed and tracked. School communications drafted with the family and sent in the family’s name.
Assessment preparation
Play-based and observational assessments for the youngest; school-set tests, SSAT and ISEE for older children; English-language tests where required. Preparation that builds skill, not scripts.
Interview preparation
Child and parent interviews, in person and online. Practice with feedback, with the aim that the child sounds like themselves on the day.
Family statement and essays
Structure, prompts and editing for parent statements and student essays. We do not write them. Schools read for authenticity, and so do we.
Transitions
Offers compared, waitlists worked, relocation and residence status coordinated with Magellan Global’s mobility specialists where a move is involved, and the first term planned.
Who we work with
Families with a long horizon, children of every temperament, and schools that are hard to enter.
Families relocating to Hong Kong, Singapore or Tokyo who need a school place within a season and want the capital and membership questions answered at the same time.
Hong Kong and regional families planning entry to local elite or international schools at Reception, Year 7 or Grade 9, often with a later U.S. stage in mind.
Families looking to the United States for Hawaiʻi, the West Coast, New York or boarding from Grade 9, who need the calendar, the testing and the F-1 process handled as one plan.
Children from two to seventeen. The youngest are observed, not tested; the oldest are interviewed as the people they are becoming. Our preparation changes with the age.
Advisers who have sat on the other side of the table in admissions offices and classrooms in the region, who are bilingual, and who take a limited number of families each season so that each child gets the time the work needs.
Principles
The child’s work is the child’s
We coach and edit. We do not write, sit tests, or script interviews. The file must describe a child who exists.
Candour before comfort
We say which schools are realistic and why, early, in writing, and we update the view as the picture changes.
No school relationships that pay us
We accept no referral fees from schools and do not trade on access. Our standing with admissions offices rests on sending them well-prepared, well-matched families.
The capital decision stands apart
Where a debenture, capital note or membership is relevant, the recommendation on the school is given first and separately. Any commission is disclosed before you decide.
Begin with a discovery conversation
Complimentary, limited each week, and enough to tell you whether and how we can help.
