The child’s path, planned from the first school to the last.
AJPE advises families on admission to the leading private schools of Asia-Pacific, Hawaiʻi and the United States, and arranges what surrounds a serious education: the club, the school capital instrument, and the sporting credentials a child earns along the way.
One path, three kinds of help
A school career runs for sixteen years. We work along the whole line, not at a single application.
- Ages 2 to 5Early years
First school choice, language balance, and the capital or membership decisions that set priority later.
- Ages 5 to 11Primary
Entry at Reception, Year 1 or Grade 1; the first sports and the start of the activity portfolio.
- Ages 11 to 14Middle years
Year 7 and Grade 6 transitions; certificates and squads that will carry weight at the next step.
- Ages 14 to 18Senior and boarding
Grade 9 entry to U.S. day and boarding schools; interviews, testing, and a record that reads as depth.
- 18 and afterUniversity and beyond
Handover to the wider Magellan Global family for higher education, careers and global mobility.
Private school admissions
A dedicated adviser from strategy to decision: school selection, application management, assessment and interview preparation, and the family’s own statement. We coach and edit; the child’s work stays the child’s.
AdmissionsClub memberships and school debentures
Introducing agent for the secondary market in Hong Kong club memberships and transferable school debentures and capital notes, with the education decision kept separate from the capital decision.
Memberships DebenturesJunior sport and experience
Ski instructor pathways in Niseko, Hakuba and New Zealand; sailing certificates in Hong Kong; and the activity portfolio that turns them into evidence an admissions reader trusts.
ProgrammesWhy the three belong together
In Hong Kong, a school place, a club and a debenture are one decision seen from three sides. Elsewhere, sport and credentials decide between equally able applicants.
Families are usually offered these services by three different kinds of firm: an admissions consultant, a membership broker and a travel or sports agency. Each optimises its own transaction. The consultant does not know what a capital note really buys; the broker does not know which school fits the child; the agency does not know what an admissions committee will make of a certificate.
AJPE holds the whole picture for one reason: the child’s path. We tell a family when a debenture is worth its price and when it is not, when a club membership is an education decision and when it is a lifestyle one, and which sporting pursuit will still matter at fourteen. Where we earn a commission, we say so in advance and in writing.
Where we work
Admissions across seven destinations. Memberships and debentures in Hong Kong. Programmes in Japan, New Zealand and Hong Kong.
The city where school choice, capital instruments and club life intersect most closely.
Deep international-school capacity, careful about who may attend.
Small, selective international schools in a city families increasingly choose for the long term.
Independent schools with a Pacific outlook, including one of the strongest boarding options in the islands.
Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area and Seattle: competitive day schools with a technology-era curriculum.
The most structured independent-school admissions calendar in the United States.
For families who want the full American boarding experience from Grade 9, with the West Coast as a gentler step from Asia.
Instructor and sailing credentials that travel with the child.
Indicative secondary-market references for twenty-two clubs and ten schools.
How an engagement runs
Six stages. A family meets the same adviser throughout.
Discovery
A conversation about the child, the family’s horizon and the cities in play. Complimentary, in limited numbers each week.
Pathway review
A written view of realistic schools, entry points and timing, with the capital, membership and sport questions that bear on it.
Strategy
A shortlist, a calendar and a division of labour. What the child will do, what the parents will do, what we will do.
Preparation
Assessments, interviews, school visits and the family statement. Coaching and editing, never ghost-writing.
Applications
Files submitted complete and on time; references briefed; school communications handled with the family.
Decision and transition
Offers weighed, waitlists worked, the move planned, and the portfolio carried to the next stage.
Questions families ask first
Do you guarantee admission?
No one can, and anyone who does should be avoided. We improve the quality of the choice and the quality of the application, and we are candid about probability.
Do you write the essays or the parent statement?
No. We coach, structure and edit. The child’s and the parents’ words remain theirs. Schools can tell, and the child has to live up to the file.
Are you affiliated with any school or club?
No. We have no referral arrangements with schools or clubs and do not represent them. Where a club or school charges transfer or application fees, those are paid to them directly.
Is a debenture or capital note worth buying?
Sometimes. It depends on the school’s rules, the child’s profile and the family’s horizon. We separate the education recommendation from the capital decision and give both in writing. See school debentures.
How are you paid?
Admissions work is paid by fixed fees set out on the fees page. Membership and debenture introductions earn a disclosed commission. Programme coordination is a fixed fee with third-party costs passed through at cost.
